Sleeping Trolls God Of War Ragnarok And Where To Find These Hidden Encounters
Across the Nine Realms of God of War Ragnarok, players can discover dormant stone statues that hide formidable enemies. Known as sleeping trolls, these petrified beasts are completely peaceful until Kratos uses a specific key item to wake them. Defeating all four sleeping trolls awards unique crafting components used to forge high-tier equipment like the defensive Steinbjorn armor set.
How to Wake the Dormant Stone Trolls
Before you can engage these secret bosses, you must acquire the Mystical Heirloom relic located in Midgard. Head south of Tyr's Temple and search for a glowing ice wall that can be destroyed with the Draupnir Spear. Behind the barrier lies a dead dwarf alongside the relic needed to awaken petrified creatures.
To trigger an encounter, equip the Mystical Heirloom in your weapons menu and approach a troll statue. Pressing the relic activation buttons near the stone figure will break the spell and initiate the boss battle. Make sure you are well-prepared with updated gear, as these stone giants hit exceptionally hard.
Where to Find the Midgard Troll Encounter
The first sleeping troll, named Blodugr Steinn, is located relatively close to where you recover the relic. Travel to the Derelict Outpost region in Midgard, situated southwest of Lake of Nine. Climb the chain up the ruins and proceed along the path to spot the petrified giant resting in the open courtyard.
This solo boss relies heavily on heavy pillar swings and area-of-effect ground slams. Staying mobile and dodging sideways gives Kratos ample opportunity to deal massive physical damage between the troll's slow attacks. Defeating Blodugr Steinn awards your first batch of Slumber Stones.
Tracking Down the Alfheim Sleeping Troll
The second encounter features Bjarg Stormr, located deep within the realm of Alfheim. Head to The Forbidden Sands region, which becomes accessible after clearing key regional favors. Look for a grapple point in the southwestern area near a lore marker to reach an elevated stone ledge.
At top of the ledge, you will find the petrified figure waiting in complete silence. The combat strategies here match the Midgard fight, focusing on dodging heavy overhead strikes and counterattacking with elemental runic abilities. Winning this battle yields more essential crafting resources for your journey.
Facing the Dual Trolls in Vanaheim
The final sleeping troll location tests your combat efficiency by forcing you to face two bosses simultaneously. Navigate to Noatun's Garden in the River Delta area of Vanaheim by taking a boat along the river pathways. In the central garden courtyard, you will immediately notice two stone statues standing side by side.
These bosses are Golrab of the Ashes and Golrab of the Frost, each possessing immunity to specific elements. Golrab of the Ashes resists fire attacks from the Blades of Chaos, while Golrab of the Frost blocks ice damage from the Leviathan Axe. You must dynamically swap weapons during the chaotic battle while managing crowd control to defeat both targets and claim your final armor materials.
